Sodomy II prosecutor honoured with Federal award

KUALA LUMPUR, June 5 — Sodomy II lead prosecutor Datuk Mohd Yusof Zainal Abiden was among those who received Federal awards in conjunction with the King's birthday today.

He was among the 1,626 honoured by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin at the Istana Negara today. The Solicitor-General II received the Panglima Jasa Negara award, which carries the title "Datuk".

Mohd Yusof is involved in the second sodomy trial of Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who has been accused of committing the act against former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.

Anwar's lawyers had unsuccessfully sought to get the career prosecutor and his entire team disqualified from the trial last year.

The PKR de facto leader claimed all six prosecutors had worked hand-in-glove with Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail — who was the lead prosecutor in the first sodomy trial against him — to hide evidence that was in the former deputy premier's favour and falsified facts, such as how he was beaten up while in police custody and which led to the infamous "black eye" incident in 1998.

Mohamed Yusof was then head of the prosecution unit in the AG's Chambers.

The late Tan Sri Azizan Zainul Abidin, who was president of Petronas and Putrajaya Corporation, was posthumously awarded the Seri Setia Mahkota Malaysia award. The country's highest award carries the title "Tun".

The career civil servant died on July 14, 2008 at age 68.

WHAT ARE THESE WRITERS TELLING US? ...THAT SOMEONE SHOULD NOT HONOURED BY THE AGONG? WHAT????? DON'T BE CONFUSED. KEEP THE AGONG OUT OF POLITICS AND COURT CASES !!!
